Accessibility

Town and Community CIO (Registered Charity Number 1209468) or "Town and Community" or "The Charity" recognises the importance of providing a website that is accessible to everyone and easy to use.

The intention of this accessibility notice is to demonstrate our commitment to making our online services accessible and explain the accessibility features of this site.

Standards compliance

Town and Community's web pages conform to a minimum Level 1 (A) compliance as specified by the Web Content Accessibility guidelines. In the future we aim for the majority of Level 2 (AA) and 3 (AAA) requirements to also be met.

Increasing the text size

We have used style sheets throughout, and users can increase or decrease the size of the text by using the browser 'Text Size' options in the 'View' menu.

Measures to support accessibility:

Town and Community takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of The Charity website:

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Town and Community’s is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Additional accessibility considerations Although our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria: Images of text are only used for decorative purposes. Re-authentication after a session expires does not cause loss of data. Some videos have sign language interpretation.
