Latest recorded figures show recent internet usage (within 3 months) stands at 79.5% in Sunderland compared with 90.8% across the UK which demonstrates the need for continued focus and effort locally.

We are developing a wind and solar microgrid model as part of our Carbon Zero Programme to provide an exemplar for schools and communities in North East England. The purpose is to create awareness within the local communities about the value of microgrids through education and training. This will lead onto apprenticeships and employment in engineering, manufacturing, and technology as we drive to a goal of net zero.
